To have known Jerry was truly a gift. Whether we knew him as Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Father-in-Law, Boss, or Neighbor, we all knew him as our friend. Usually unpretentious, he rarely boasted of his greatness, unless in a light hearted manner. Yet he could humble those of us who tried to outwit him. No challenge too great. With a little time and a little thought, he could make almost anything work. You could not help but learn from him, with his vast wealth of knowledge, always available for the asking. At times it would be intimidating to ask him for help with something you've worked on for hours on end to no avail, because you knew he would know the answer right away. He never talked down to anyone, but always on the same level. Some would say he made them feel important. He was always available to talk, no matter how small the problem. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. He judged no one, all were equally important and he made time for all. But he kept his problems to himself…never to be a burden to anyone. He had a calm demeanor about him. A kind of peace…like life was wonderful. He loved his family and friends, he loved his work and most of all he loved his boat. So much to do, so little time. He lived life the way he wanted to. And his time with us was ever so short, but he'll remain in our hearts and our thoughts forever.
